Description

Clients are working to modernize their applications to provide a competitive advantage and to provide more benefits to the business. Enterprises have a significant investment in their current systems and they need to determine how to add new features such as Artificial Intelligence to extend the value of the data they currently have about their customers. Improving the digital experience of customers, improving fraud detection and prevention, and providing a more scalable solution using microservices are some of the enhancements that enterprises want from their modernized application. For those enterprises that are running their critical business applications on IBM Power, they can take advantage of their existing infrastructure to host new microservices based solutions to minimize the costs of their modernization journey. IBM Power is perfectly suited to be part of a modern hybrid cloud infrastructure providing flexibility, scalability, and reliability for your IT infrastructure with flexible procurement options and even usage based pricing.

    Benefits to Resident

The residents in this residency will be introduced to several patterns for modernization on Power that they can use with their clients or in their own environment to digitally transform the application environment. In addition, residents will work with a team of other experts to help build this IBM Redbooks publication building relationships for future interactions in their careers.

IBM Redbooks want technical practitioners to be recognized for their newly gained knowledge, experience, and accomplishments. Therefore, upon successful delivery of the publication produced by this IBM Redbooks residency, you will become eligible to earn an IBM Redbooks Digital Badge issued through Credly.

    Objectives

This residency will be producing an IBM Redbook publication which is designed to assist the reader in modernizing their current application environment while taking advantage of the benefits of IBM Power in a modern hybrid cloud architecture.

    Resident Prerequistes

A basic requirement for all residents is the ability to read and clearly express concepts and procedures in common English.

This is a remote residency and does not require any travel. Residents will be expected to spend 10 to 15 hours per week in researching topics, attending meetings, writing content, and editing existing content. In the first week of the residency, we will have up to three conference calls of approximately an hour designed to introduce everyone to the topic, define the outline for the project, and assign topics to individual residents or teams to create content. During the following weeks, we will generally have two status meetings (generally between 30 - 45 minutes each) to ensure we are progressing. While we would hope that residents will attend each conference call, we do understand that you continue to have other items come up and so calls will be recorded for those that can not make it. Please make the meetings in the initial week a priority as they are building a foundation for the project. We will use Slack as a communication and teaming tool to provide additional points of contact between meetings.
